The Covid cover up………..will you or won’t you?
Someone near and dear to my heart recently advised me to
stay away from politics. With all due respect, I can’t . Particularly when
people are dying. Not tens ,not hundreds but thousands and we still want to be
selfish with information that can help?
I think America is
beginning to understand that health IS political and everyone’s business. I am
not one of those doctors who is going to be nodding in the background while
someone is explaining that a deadly virus is a hoax . Or pointing at someone
else as a scapegoat. Or when people are being told to wear a scarf to prevent
the covid-19 virus knowing its not true.
I am not in the business of watching people die while I try
to be politically correct. That is not why I became a doctor and that is why I
practice medicine in the US rather than in Russia for instance. I believe I
should be free to educate my patients based on my conscience rather than what
is politically correct (read.. good for business). I can honestly say I am not in this for the
ratings (smile).
You will notice that the closer I get to the truth the “scarier”
the blogs become.
No apologies for that, truth is critical at a time like
this. Approximately 1000 people died in the USA in the past 24 hours bringing
the total to over 7000. Do you remember last Sunday when 2000 had died and I
said it was likely to double this week? Well it will have quadrupled by this
Sunday instead! No, it is not business as usual. We are still in the
acceleration phase.
Listen carefully: Your best bet is to make sure you do not
get the illness at all. I have been saying this for weeks. Secondly, if you do, make sure you can physically weather it.
If you have to be admitted to the hospital there is NO
GUARANTEE you will make it out alive. Don’t bank on surviving the ICU. We still
can’t get enough ventilators, masks or hand sanitizers!
Respiratory droplets have diameters of 10 to 100 microns and
can last in the air for up to 45 minutes. They survive longer on hard surfaces
than porous ones, up to 36 hours. They can easily navigate a woolen scarf! Masks
will filter 63 to 84% of respiratory droplets.
My main take home today is about masks. Wear one! The big
controversy about wearing one really was no controversy at all as you can see
from countries that aren’t scared to wear them.
In this country and the UK, the controversy came out of the
lack of adequate masks and so their role was down played and discouraged. Why ? because we needed people to save them
for the health care workers.
Have you laughed at someone wearing a mask? Don’t, they are
protecting you. Instead of discouraging people from using them let’s find ways
to keep the fancy ones for health care workers but still protect people in
general.
Masks will protect you and everyone else. Your scarf won’t,
In fact it will make you keep adjusting it and introducing more germs to your
face.
I have put two links t here for do it yourself masks :

Masks may not be fashion forward but they may save yours or a loved ones life!
I would appreciate your comments!
