WHAT TO DO FOR YOUR PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH
I would like to suggest a few things that I believe we should all be doing during this stressful time:
Exercise, this is critical to clear your mind and expand your lungs. Not to mention control your weight.
Avoid fast food. I understand people have to do a lot of take out right now but you still have to be careful about what you are ordering. Your wallet will be getting thinner while your stomach gets bigger. Don't trade one health problem for another.
Take True Calm, a natural herbal combination to relax you and take the edge of the anxiety we are all feeling. It is available on this website.
Sleep. Aim for 8 hours a night, if you get 7 its manageable.
Stay inside. Don't socialize. There will be plenty of time later to make your apologies.
Watch the news ONCE a day not 24/7. If you do, your cortisol level (stress hormone) will be through the roof. This causes increased sugar (glucose) levels in your blood and weight gain. Then you stress eat and... you get the idea.
Stretch daily, this is not the same as regular exercise. Make a point of stretching your joints and muscles (like your back) that are not getting used while you are sitting around.
Stay in touch with people you like and love via technology. Social contact is still good just not in person.
I know it may be hard for some to celebrate Easter alone but it is necessary. When you are tempted to mess up, remember you could be alone on a ventilator (or worse).
Spread love, not germs.
Spend more time being proactive than worrying and panicking. We can all only do so much but there is always someone worse off who needs our help. You can leave your neighbor's groceries on their doorstep and feel good about doing something for someone else.
In addition to all this, please remember the other things I have been emphasizing in my prior blogs. Read my other blogs if you have forgotten them. In summary: Wear a mask, wash your hands, wear gloves, wipe down surfaces and stay home. Institute social distancing at every opportunity even when walking.
