Keep your heads down, this war is getting worse and the ‘bombs’ are about to drop!
If by chance there is anyone out there who doesn’t realize that Covid-19 is serious business, now is the time to sit up and take notice. No sugar coating, no muffled laughs, no joking around. Everyone in the US is about to lose someone they care about unless they sit up and take notice. It is almost too late.
We’ve been at this for only 2 weeks and our death toll will surpass 5,000 by tomorrow. We have over 200,000 cases in the US and that's without even testing most people! Hopefully that will give you an idea of how many people are really infected.
Note: 25% of infected people have no symptoms at all.
Are you scared yet?
Check out this link from the Financial Times they show graphs daily, you can follow them if you are so inclined. Take note that the slope of the graph for the US is way worse than any other country, including China and Italy.
Am I trying to scare you? As a matter of fact yes, I am. If you haven’t been scared enough to do your civic duty yet, its time to get with it. Playtime is over and so is life as we know it.
One of the doctors on the frontlines Dr. Jessica Lilley in Louisiana said it better than I can:
“By changing the behavior of one person, I can prevent a multitude of infections and deaths.”
Everyone can do something, so do it! Let’s flatten the curve. Let’s keep people out of harm’s way and help neighbor’s living alone.
If you have a mask, wear it! Don’t be coy, it’s not for fashion, it is better than nothing. Let’s not quibble about what type of mask you own and whether you are protecting yourself or others. Get over it already. You could save someone’s life and it just might be yours.
When you go to the grocery store in the morning put on your gloves, don’t touch things you don’t plan on buying and stop touching your face. Spray your car once you have removed your produce and wash your hands as soon as you get in the house.
After you put your groceries away, use some hand sanitizer.
Once you get into this rhythm it is not as arduous as it sounds.
Wipe down home surfaces often. Stay home as much as possible.
If you have to work outside the home, do not wear the same clothes over and over. Throw them in the hot wash before your kids come in contact with them.
Maintain social distancing even though you are already tired of it someone’s life depends on it.
Take you vitamins and supplements even though you are once again tired of taking them, your life could depend on it. Stop smoking if you haven’t yet, it is no longer a viable option. Vaping likewise.
As a physician I really feel that every death is unnecessary and could have been prevented. Please don’t contribute to any more. I hope you focus on the substance of what I am saying. The time for kid gloves is over.
Sorry to sound so bossy but seriously…………..It’s time!
